I own one and currently own both the Parodious Collection and the PC Engine Best: Soldier Collection sets, both of which are heartily recommended for shmup enthusiasts :)

I picked up Odin Sphere after seeing it dirt-cheap upon recommendation of the gang from the RetroForceGO! podcast because of how great a game it was, but honestly have never booted it up in my PS2 which I'm slightly ashamed about. I need to add this one to my play queue, but I have so little time for gaming these days that I usually just play older titles in short bursts on my Wii or my PSP.MetalFROhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01663974489543139174noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5567207519106782296.post-39711860664994790922008-03-10T15:50:00.000-05:002008-03-10T15:50:00.000-05:00I, too, need to buy this game eventually, if I can...I, too, need to buy this game eventually, if I can ever get through the unplayed stack on my shelf...

I agree with everything that you said, very poetically, I might add, about this game. However, there are a couple of things that I think a comprehensive review would comment on:
The skimpy inventory and the strange alchemy system

-samiAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5567207519106782296.post-32908735690736434842008-03-09T11:49:00.000-05:002008-03-09T11:49:00.000-05:00Yea... if only I had a Sega Saturn so I could play...Yea... if only I had a Sega Saturn so I could play this game's spiritual prequel, Princess Crown.

Wait... didn't they port it to the PSP in Japan? Is the PSP region free?8bitcityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07962550332186044964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5567207519106782296.post-67742485951345371092008-03-09T06:08:00.000-05:002008-03-09T06:08:00.000-05:00This is high on the list of PS2 games I still need...This is high on the list of PS2 games I still need to pick up - I've slowed down on picking up PS2 games since I got my Wii last summer, the last I snagged for my PS2 being MetropolisMania 2 back in August. (Though I'm planning on snagging a copy of Persona 3 FES next month, seeing as I missed the first release before it became rare and expensive, a real disappointment as a Persona fan from the very first game, that having been my introduction to MegaTen back in the '90s.)

I'm really looking forward to Oboro Muramasa Youtoden too, which I'm sure some company - Atlus or otherwise - will undoubtedly bring to the west, considering what a top notch Wii follow-up to Odin Sphere it looks like. Games like this and Super Paper Mario definitely remind me of Faxanadu, Adventure of Link, Battle of Olympus and all - the sorts of sidescrolling adventures that it's nice to see making a comeback after a relative long-term void of them in the industry.Benjamin Fennellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03969365899812684110noreply@blogger.com
