Pitfall! High Score 100,963
My personal best at Pitfall! I was just 1 screen away from another diamond ring. Getting close to a 32/32 Treasure game. I was actually recording this game, so I'll have a video of it sometime.
Died once to a scorpion, and was pretty conservative with the jumps, thus my slow time. I also need to start going to the right at the beginning to pick up the first treasure; I'll never get a perfect game without perfecting that.

Enduro Atari Activision
Enduro is another Activision classic, and the best racing game on the Atari. Grand Prix is also pretty fun, and of course there is always Pole Position. Enduro is more like Outrun, you drive across varied scenes at high speed.
Game features, ice, fog, day and night effects. Easy to pick-up and play, very impossible to master. A must have for any collector. Included in the Activision Antology for GBA and PS2. I own both versions, as they are excellent and have a nice virtual interface.
The main thing I like about Enduro is how long the races last, you'll be driving for minutes, instead of the seconds most other racing games of this era provided.

Recent Comments Sidebar Returns!
It's been months, if not a year since we had the recent comments displayed on the sidebar. It's time to kick it back into action.
The bar wasn't gone for any stylistic or ideological reason; it was just broken and wouldn't display the comments.
Looks like everything is working again, so comment away! You don't need an account to post, you can post anonymously, and hopefully the sidebar can help get some discussions on older posts going as well. Now, the things you say won't immediately be buried under 5 years of posts and comments.
So leave a comment! Subscribe!

Lord of the Rings Atari
For an unreleased prototype, Lord of the Rings is still a great great. The quest is simple, reach Rivendale. I've never successfully reached the Elvin City, and I'm not even sure it exists.
This is a great way to spend some time on an Atari Adventure. Read the books and play the game.
It seems that this would have been part 1 in a 3-6 part recreation of the Lord of the Rings. This could have been the original Bit Trip Runner-style game, stretching across genres. Still a great game, and a welcome addition to the very small adventure games 2600 library.

Venture
Venture is like Berzerk but worse. It's still a fun game, and it's theoretically an adventure, but so is Berzerk if you want it to be. It was released in 1982, but it probably could have been better than it is.
Still, there is an unmistakable, hard-to-define quality that keeps players coming back for more in Venture.

Atari Galaxian Screenshots
Playing some Galaxian, one of the best home ports of arcade games on the 2600. I actually prefer this version to the arcade machine. The simple design and orange coloring remind me of an old CGA game. I managed to score 9600, just 400 short of my goal. I'm sure the world record is 10 million or something.
